The FBI and AARO Describe the Same 2026 Triangle Event, and the Details Do Not Match
The documents: Two records of one event, released together in PURSUE Release 07 on Oct 23, 2026: an AARO memorandum debriefing federal agents who reported a matte black triangular object seen from an observation post in the western U.S. in June 2026, and the FBI FD-302 carrying the agents' own signed statement of the same sighting. The accounts agree a silent triangle was there. They disagree on how long it stayed and which way it moved.
Two federal special agents are the primary witnesses, with a third official corroborating; all identities, the precise date, and the location are redacted in both records [D176; FBI-D043].
AARO's memo describes a matte black triangular shape of extremely low aspect ratio: a roughly 10 second vertical climb, a roughly 20 second hover, and a silent dive into a canyon [D176].
AARO records no sound, no exhaust or localized hot spots (a uniform thermal signature), and no wreckage found in a search the next morning [D176 pp.1-3]. The memo states plainly: no instrumented speed measurement was obtained [D176 p.3].
The agents told AARO that a conventional drone at 1.4 miles would have been clearly audible [D176 p.3]. No physiological effects and no electromagnetic interference were reported [D176 pp.2-3].
In their own signed FBI statement, the agents describe a silent black triangle "most resembling a delta wing drone" [FBI-D043 p.1].
The records disagree on duration: about 3 seconds in the FBI account versus roughly 30 seconds in the AARO account, the sum of its three phases of about 10, 20 and 2 to 3 seconds [D176 p.1]. They also differ on movement: the FBI statement says the craft was approaching their position [FBI-D043 p.2], while AARO describes it banking away into a canyon.
What the documents say
This is the newest event in Release 07 and one of its best witnessed: federal agents on duty at an observation post, watching through thermal equipment, with a second agency debriefing them afterward. On the core facts the two records line up. Something triangular, black, and silent climbed, hovered, and left, and a next morning search found nothing on the ground.
FIG. 1 — FBI-UAP-D043, P.7 • ONE OF NINE UNLABELED IMAGES IN THE FILE (PP.3-11). THE RELEASE DOES NOT SAY WHO MADE THEM.
On the measurable details they split. One record's event lasts about 3 seconds, the other's roughly 30. One has the object approaching the witnesses, the other has it turning away. Neither record resolves the difference, and AARO's own memo concedes the limit of the file: no instrument was measuring when it happened.

What the documents do not say
They do not identify the object. The "delta wing drone" comparison is the witnesses' own description, not a conclusion by either agency, and the same witnesses argued a conventional drone would have been heard. They do not say where exactly it happened, when exactly in June 2026, or who the witnesses are; those fields are redacted.
Why it matters
Most UAP files rest on one account. This one has two, written by two different agencies from what appear to be the same witnesses, and the seams show. That is what a real evidentiary record looks like before anyone has explained it, and it is why the case sits in PURSUE's archive of unresolved cases. The disagreement is not a defect in the release. It is the most honest thing in it.
